In Cuba, major fine artists such as Nelson and Lescay work in clay along side their other mediums because they feel that they can't express in painting and other sculptural forms what they can in clay.
This is supported by the vision of Dr. Alejandro Alonso whose mission is that Ceramics be recognized as Fine Art on the same professional artistic level as painting and sculpture.
